Genetically proven or not?

I don’t know whether to put this into work writing or just simply blog it.

I am working with a skincare company as casual right now and it’s kind of nice especially if you are working with one of the big brands. Its really much more easier to sell. Anyway, today is not about doing sales.

Met one customer today that was enquiring some of the products. I find the overall experience with her irony especially. Told her some of the products can slow down ageing, and it helps with skin cell renewal and thus skin stays young longer.

She being the ‘expert’ make up artist (keeps on telling me that)whom has worked with big superstars like Cate Blanchette insisted that ‘you can never stop ageing, its genetic’. I never said STOP. I said ‘slow down’. Of course I didn’t correct her cause customer is always right, right? Perhaps it is genetic, I am not denying that, heck I have good skin because of good gene, BUT then why is she looking at the skincare? FOR? WHY? You can’t stop ageing, so why even bother?

Say if one person with serious acne and if it is genetic, so we just let the puss flow all over the face? or better, try to see the difference between two forty year old women, one that uses skin care and one who doesn’t, what can you see? or even better, with the condition we are living in right now? Pollutions and bad diet, you think your genetic good skin will stay good if you let it rot?

I know it won’t stop ageing. In fact when I think about the genetic issue, I think of another issue. The socio-biology debate, can’t remember the Prof’s name (lazy to Google) , the theory said that human behaviour is determined by the genes. Could be right, right? So say, we collect a bunch of people with bad genes, and then we persecute them for the possibility of them committing the crime which they haven’t yet, so do you think that is reasonable? So say, if the person has good gene and we just let them be, let them grow like a wild flower since its genetic right, what could go wrong, right? Now are we going to discriminate people because of the genes? What’s the name of the movie, er…galatica? Starred by Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke? Get ma point? Genetic or whatever it is, is not given by choice, your action now, do.

Whoa…where am I going la…Anyway, whomever coined the term that “customer is always right”? He or she must has never ever worked in the service industry. If the customer speak vulgarly to you? They are still right? If the customer slaps you, they are still right? If the customer tries to take advantage of you, still right ah?

That customer said one thing that really baffled me, she said, ‘these products are so popular’ which I can’t help but to reply, ‘yea, cause they work.’ Why the hell would she want to say that statement? So contradicting to her believes in genetic skin condition.

I believe in a good customer service but I don’t take unreasonable shit. I am writing this not because of this customer but with the one I had two days ago. Long story which I will blog another day.
